Dreams

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
.
Langston Hughes (1902-1967)

I think it was in ninth grade, it was in our English book. I read it over and over again, aloud sometimes, but as a whisper it would tell me the most.
