Past steady streams, bending rocks, the charcoaled stump of a once-towering redwood, a clearing where hundreds of butterflies sun themselves in a quiet rhythm of pulsing wings, sunlight dripping through branches, the patterns moving across my face -- As I walk memories of the past year swirl in me... I think of all of you. And from deep in the wilderness, without even the technology of the watch, I get excited that I can reach you all on our blog!!

and then off i went. now here but not yet arrived, you are missing, and it will take a while to fully acknowledge the fact that the world is a big place, which of course i knew but still need to appreciate.
